Chiara Fuller

NYC Debate Club Coordinator

Chiara Davis Fuller has 15 years of experience in education. She has taught English language courses, coached debate, organized educational seminars and developed curricula for students and teachers in Belize, Japan, Ecuador, Nepal and the US. She graduated with a Masters in Education from Cambridge College in 2006 and a Masters of Arts degree in the International Educational Development Program at Teachers College, Columbia University in May 2017. She received her Masters of Education in Teacher Education and Curriculum Design from the Curriculum and Teaching Department at Teachers College in May 2019. 

Chiara loves coaching debate!  Her teams have competed in the NYCUDL for two and a half years. Her professional passion as a debate coach, global teacher educator, and education event coordinator allows her to design inclusive, culturally responsive and dynamic educational spaces for diverse learners.

John Meng

Parliamentary Debate Coach

John Meng has been a parliamentary debate coach at the UDL's Debate Club for over 2 years. He has also judged at multiple parliamentary debate tournaments and is a member of the UDL's development committee. In high school, John was the Captain of his school's mock trial team and led the team to become State Champions of Ohio in 2012. He is employed as an economic consultant in New York and attended the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Economics and minoring in Computer Science.


Julie Kuang

Varsity/Junior Varsity Public Forum Debate Coach

Julie is a public forum coach at the UDL Debate Club, a tabroom staff at tournaments, and a member of the outreach team. She has been involved with the NYCUDL since 2014. She began her debate career at NYCUDL tournaments, and later competed in national tournaments with the help and support of the League. Notably, she was the Brooklyn Borough Champion (2016), NYCUDL Top Speaker (2015-2016), Semi-finalist at Lakeland (2017), and Double-octa finalist at Princeton (2017). Julie is currently a college student at Hunter College. There, she double-majors in English and Childhood Education, and plans to become a teacher in the future.

Emily Moffa

Novice Public Forum Debate Coach

Emily is an introductory public forum instructor for the UDL Debate Club. She has been involved with the Urban Debate League since 2017 as an instructor as well as a director for the Debate Club program. She has also worked with the league as tournament staff  and as a judge. She began her involvement with debate in 2012 at the Blake School in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she debated on the national circuit and captained the team in her senior year. Emily is currently a Senior at New York University majoring in Public Policy with a minor in applied mathematics, and hopes to work in the intersection of policy and education after graduation. 


Feiry Guaba

Novice Public Forum Debate Club Coach

Feiry is an assistant debate coach at the High School for Law, Advocacy, and Community Justice, the director of beginner parliamentary workshops at middle school tournaments, and a judge room staff at high school tournaments. He began debating at NYCUDL tournaments in 7th grade (2013) and went on to high school to establish a debate team and volunteer as a judge at middle school tournaments. After having made achievements such as First Place at the 2015-2016 NYC Urban Debate League City Championship, Two-time semi-finalist at the Westchester Classic Debate tournament at Lakeland High School, and First Place speaker at the High School State Championship at Bronx Science (2015-2016), he taught at the Harlem Debate Institute for two years in a row in 2017-2018. As a current student at the City College of New York, Feiry pursues a major in political science with a plan to work in the Government.
